GLOBAL CRISIS

The Voice Of Us project had a significant and sweet time during June, Children's Month, with various activities for children's shelters, aimed at promoting a kinder society. As we move into the next month, July, are you curious about our upcoming theme?

Without keeping everyone in suspense any longer, July has arrived with a pressing issue of contemporary society—a problem that affects people worldwide and also occurs in Vietnam: Human Trafficking. Human trafficking is an illegal activity that involves the recruitment, transportation, transfer, harboring, or receipt of people through threats, force, coercion, deception, abuse of power, or a position of vulnerability, all for exploitation.

Human trafficking is a global issue affecting millions of people, with women and children being the most vulnerable. According to the International Labour Organization (ILO), approximately 25 million people worldwide are victims of human trafficking and forced labor. Hotspots for human trafficking include Southeast Asia, Africa, and Latin America. In Vietnam, human trafficking remains a significant challenge for both the population and the government. Despite measures such as strengthened legislation, awareness campaigns, and victim support, the problem has not been fully resolved. Therefore, the strong intervention of communities and civil society organizations to raise awareness and advocate for victims' rights is crucial and needs more attention now.

Victims of human trafficking often suffer severe physical and mental harm, losing their rights and dignity. They are forced into dangerous work, live in deplorable conditions, and are deprived of their freedom. For society, human trafficking causes social instability, increases crime, and negatively impacts economic development. Communities are weakened when a large part of the population is vulnerable and unable to participate in normal economic and social activities.
